If you put ten different lanyards on a table, they may look quite similar from a distance. Once you start checking the material, printing, stitching, attachments and intended use, however, they become ten very different products.

We have been manufacturing custom lanyards and event wristbands since 2007. During that time, we have learned one useful lesson: the “best” product is not always the most expensive one. It is the one that fits the event, the budget and the way people will actually use it.

A one-day conference does not need the same wristband as a four-day music festival. A staff ID lanyard does not need the same printing method as a colorful promotional giveaway. Choosing the right specification at the beginning saves time, money and a surprising number of emails later.

Custom lanyards are commonly used for employee ID cards, visitor badges, trade show passes, event credentials, keys, mobile phones, whistles, medals and promotional giveaways.

Polyester Lanyards

Polyester is the reliable all-rounder of the lanyard world. It is durable, comfortable to wear and suitable for screen printing or heat transfer printing.

For a simple one- or two-color company logo, screen-printed polyester lanyards are often an economical choice. For colorful artwork, gradients or edge-to-edge designs, sublimation printing provides more freedom.

Sublimation Lanyards

Sublimation lanyards are suitable for full-color logos, photographs, detailed artwork and repeating patterns. The ink is transferred into the fabric under heat and pressure, so the printed surface remains smooth.

They are widely used for trade shows, conferences, sporting events and branded merchandise. They are also useful when your designer says, “The logo has twelve colors, three gradients and one tiny line of text.” We have heard that sentence more than once.

Nylon Lanyards

Nylon lanyards have a smooth surface and a slightly glossy, premium appearance. They work well for corporate programs, VIP passes, retail promotions and organizations looking for a more refined finish.

Woven Lanyards

On woven lanyards, the logo or text is woven directly into the webbing. This creates a classic textile appearance and good durability.

Woven designs work best with clear lettering and relatively simple artwork. Very small details and complex gradients are usually better handled by sublimation printing.

rPET Lanyards

rPET lanyards are made with recycled polyester material and are suitable for companies, exhibitions and campaigns that want a more environmentally conscious option.

The correct chip and operating frequency depend on the reader, software and intended use. We always recommend confirming the technical requirements before production. A wristband can look perfect, but if it does not communicate with the customer’s system, it is simply a very attractive bracelet.

How We Help You Choose the Right Product

From a production point of view, we normally consider four questions.

1. How Will the Product Be Used?

A staff lanyard may be worn every day, while an exhibition lanyard may only be needed for three days. A festival wristband must stay secure, while a promotional wristband may need to be reusable.

The intended use determines the appropriate material, closure and construction.

2. How Detailed Is the Artwork?

Simple logos can work well with screen printing or woven production. Full-color artwork, gradients and small details are generally better suited to sublimation printing.

We review the artwork before sampling and can point out details that may become unclear during production.

3. What Is the Required Quantity?

The order quantity affects the most economical production method. Our typical minimum order quantity for many custom lanyards and wristbands starts from 100 pieces. Tyvek wristbands usually start from 1,000 pieces.

The final MOQ depends on the product, material, printing method and accessories.

4. When Is the Product Needed?

A normal sample takes approximately 3–5 days, while bulk production commonly takes around 7–15 days after artwork and sample approval.

The actual schedule depends on the quantity, customization and packaging. If your event date is fixed, please tell us at the beginning. Factory machines work hard, but unfortunately, they have not yet learned time travel.
